Maps of Intact Forest Landscapes

The book is the result of identifying intact forest landscapes of Northern European Russia (including the Urals). The project was implemented by a group of non-governmental environmental organizations.

The map is based on the Atlas of intact forest landscapes of Russia, prepared by a group of non-governmental environmental organizations - members of the Global Forest Watch Russia.

| The atlas is the first attempt to map the boundaries of intact forest landscapes for such a big country as Russia.

This is the first assessment of the intact (don’t being fragmented with infrastructure) forest areas of over 500 square kilometers, carried out on a global scale.

| Poster "Remaining Wildlands in the Northern Forests" provides a preliminary assessment of the preservation of old-growth forest areas within the boreal zone.

Project of intact forest in Canada is unique result of cooperation among the members of the international Global Forest Watch. It was conducted by Forest Watch Canada, Russia Forest Watch and World Resources Institute.
